The Atlanta Braves are playing their best brand of baseball in a long while. However, there is no chance they will make the MLB playoffs this season.\u00a0With a struggling campaign and manager Brian Snitker in the final year of his contract, the Braves are likely to move on.
\n\u201cBecause of that consistent recent success, Snit would normally be afforded a \u2018mulligan\u2019 year\u2014even though going from the second-best preseason World Series odds to possibly the third-best odds of winning the draft lottery is a pretty serious mulligan,\u201d Bleacher Report\u2019s Kerry Miller wrote. \u201cAt 69, though, he’s already the oldest manager in the National League by a several-year margin and was likely to retire at the end of this season, which is the last one in his current contract.\u201d<\/em>The Braves have lost three pitchers for the rest of the season, even though two of them barely pitched all year.<\/p>\n

\u201cJoe Jimenez was shut down from throwing last week due to renewed soreness in his surgically repaired left knee. This seemed like a major obstacle to Jimenez\u2019s chances of returning to action before the end of the 2025 season, and Braves manager Brian Snitker confirmed today to reporters (including Gabriel Burns of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution) that Jimenez indeed won\u2019t be back in action this year. It also seems like injured starters Reynaldo Lopez and Spencer Schwellenbach have thrown their last pitches of 2025, as Snitker was doubtful either right-hander would be activated from the 60-day injured list before season\u2019s end,\u201d\u00a0MLB Trade Rumors\u2019 Mark Polishuk wrote.
\nAt the trade deadline, many expected Marcell Ozuna and Raisel Iglesias to be dealt, but that didn\u2019t happen. There is still a way for the Braves to move them and save money before they hit free agency.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Atlanta Braves are roughly $8.5 million below the luxury-tax threshold, so they’re all set on that front. But they could save around $5 million if they waive Marcell Ozuna and Raisel Iglesias and someone else claims them, so why not,\u201d Miller wrote.
\nThe duo hasn\u2019t exactly lived up to expectations. With the playoffs looming, teams heading to the postseason would be eager to add them.
