I\u2019m not shocked or concerned by our collective defense not looking good in the preseason. I\u2019m more shocked and concerned by literally no individual defensive rookies having any impact moments thus far. There is nothing that screams \u201cI belong\u201d from any of these defensive rookies. I\u2019m not saying they don\u2019t belong. I\u2019m not saying they won\u2019t be great. I\u2019m just saying no one has made any impactful plays that make you excited. Coaches have some tough decisions because I\u2019m not convinced you can come away from these games saying \u201cwe got our dude\u201d.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n

I have a funny feeling that a defense with McDuffie, Watson, Tranquil and Bolton a gameplan of all bootlegs probably fails. The run defense will look a lot better with CJ95 and Bolton in the middle. One of the reasons I don\u2019t get worked up about the preseason. The difference in personnel from last years very good defense and this year is we added Fulton, Nohl Williams, Mike Edwards, ONL, Gillotte, Bassa, Tillery and lost Nnadi, Wharton and Reid. I don\u2019t think we will be worse on defense.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n
