Bryant Fritz who teaches middle school science at Next Generation School in Champaign, was preparing to fish Saturday when he found Dory, a black and white female puppy, s\u1d1c\u0299\u1d0d\u1d07\u0280\u0262\u1d07\u1d05 in rising water and \u1d1b\u0280\u1d00\u1d18\u1d18\u1d07\u1d05 inside of a dog crate in Kaufman Lake.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/RLIy30B.jpg\" alt=\"Man \u0280\u1d07s\u1d04\u1d1c\u1d07s Puppy Dog \u029f\u1d0f\u1d04\u1d0b\u1d07\u1d05 In A Cage Found \u0493\u029f\u1d0f\u1d00\u1d1b\u026a\u0274\u0262 In Freezing Lake - For4News\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He first spotted the dog \u1d1b\u0280\u1d00\u1d18\u1d18\u1d07\u1d05 in a crate dumped in Kaufman Lake in Champaign, Illinois. Just the dog\u2019s head was above the freezing water. Being a lifelong dog lover, Fritz knew just what he had to do. He shed a few layers of clothing and waded into the frigid water to s\u1d00\u1d20\u1d07 the dog. Fritz said: \u201d It was about 3 pm when I saw the dog in the lake. Part of the crate was sticking out of the water. I took off a couple of layers of sweaters and immediately waded into the water to reach the crate. I believes I waded a distance of between 15 and 20 yards into the lake before reaching the puppy. It was pretty clear the dog had been in the cold water for several hours. I immediately pulled her out of the water and dragged the crate to the shore. But, I then realized the dog had other \u1d0d\u1d07\u1d05\u026a\u1d04\u1d00\u029f \u026ass\u1d1c\u1d07s. When I got her up to the shore, there was \u0299\u029f\u1d0f\u1d0f\u1d05 all over the place. She was \u1d0d\u026ass\u026a\u0274\u0262 a bunch of \ua730\u1d1c\u0280on the back side, and the bottom of her paws were \u1d0d\u026ass\u026a\u0274\u0262 \u0299\u1d00\u1d05. She probably weighed 15 to 20 pounds, she was definitely a puppy. She was shaking so bad. Her \u1d07\u028f\u1d07s were s\u029c\u1d1c\u1d1b. She was so \u1d0d\u026as\u1d07\u0280\u1d00\u0299\u029f\u1d07.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/AsGxM8T.jpg\" alt=\"Man \u0280\u1d07s\u1d04\u1d1c\u1d07s Puppy Dog \u029f\u1d0f\u1d04\u1d0b\u1d07\u1d05 In A Cage Found \u0493\u029f\u1d0f\u1d00\u1d1b\u026a\u0274\u0262 In Freezing Lake - For4News\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Fritz immediately called the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching H\u1d0fs\u1d18\u026a\u1d1b\u1d00\u029f to \u1d00\u029f\u1d07\u0280\u1d1bthem he was bringing a dog who \u1d05\u1d07s\u1d18\u1d07\u0280\u1d00\u1d1b\u1d07\u029f\u028f needed \u1d1b\u0280\u1d07\u1d00\u1d1b\u1d0d\u1d07\u0274\u1d1b for \u029c\u028f\u1d18\u1d0f\u1d1b\u029c\u1d07\u0280\u1d0d\u026a\u1d00, \u1d20\u026as\u026a\u0299\u029f\u1d07 \u1d21\u1d0f\u1d1c\u0274\u1d05s, and possibly more. On the way, he stopped at his house to wrap the puppy in a blanket \u2018to get her as warm as possible.\u2019 University of Illinois College of V\u1d07\u1d1b\u1d07\u0280\u026a\u0274\u1d00\u0280\u028f M\u1d07\u1d05\u026a\u1d04\u026a\u0274\u1d07 spokeswoman Chris Beuoy noted the puppy has been responding favorably to \u1d1b\u0280\u1d07\u1d00\u1d1b\u1d0d\u1d07\u0274\u1d1b for \u029c\u028f\u1d18\u1d0f\u1d1b\u029c\u1d07\u0280\u1d0d\u026a\u1d00. The H\u1d0fs\u1d18\u026a\u1d1b\u1d00\u029f\u2019s staff also cleaned the \u1d21\u1d0f\u1d1c\u0274\u1d05s and \u1d18\u1d1c\u1d1b her on \u1d00\u0274\u1d1b\u026a\u0299\u026a\u1d0f\u1d1b\u026a\u1d04s and \u1d18\u1d00\u026a\u0274 \u1d0d\u1d07\u1d05\u026a\u1d04\u026a\u0274\u1d07. I and my girlfriend Krystal decided if all went well, we would name her Dory after the Disney character voiced by Ellen DeGeneres in Finding Nemo.
