The Dallas Cowboys have not made an NFC Championship Game since 1995 \u2013 exactly 30 years ago. Which makes them the team with the longest championship game draught in the NFC, after the Washington Commanders secured their spot in January with a win in Detroit.<\/p>\n
Not that\u00a0anyone\u2019s been talking about it, or anything like that.<\/p>\n
However, despite this rather unattractive statistical tidbit, quarterback\u00a0Dak Prescott\u00a0issued a rather ambitious prediction to the owner of the\u00a0Los Angeles Rams, Stan Kroenke, ahead of their pre-season clash on Saturday night.<\/p>\n
He told the Super Bowl champion that the team would \u201cmeet y\u2019all in the NFC Championship Game\u201d, per Ari Meirov.<\/p>\n

Dak Prescott Has High Hopes For The 2025 Season<\/h2>\n
For a team that not been in the position of being a game away from the Super Bowl, Prescott certainly seems self-assured in his belief that he and the Cowboys can finally have demonstrable postseason success.<\/p>\n
Since taking over the reins nine years ago, back in 2016, Prescott has gone 2-5 in the playoffs and has \u2013 per the draught \u2013 never seen a conference championship. In fact, he\u2019s only seen a divisional championship three times, losing all three to the 49ers, Packers and \u2013 ironically in this case \u2013 the Rams.<\/p>\n
The Cowboys are currently 6-1 to win the NFC East division, with both the Eagles and Commanders far more favored than Dallas.<\/p>\n
For what it\u2019s worth, it would be far less shocking to see the Rams \u2013 who were a couple of faulty turnovers from beating the Eagles in a hotly contested Divisional Game \u2013 in the NFC Championship for what would be the third time under head coach, Sean McVay. The team are currently 2-0 in conference championship games since McVay took over in 2017.<\/p>\n
What Is The Route To NFC Championship For The Cowboys?<\/h2>\n
It\u2019s unclear if there is any realistic path to the NFC Championship \u2013 or indeed the Super Bowl \u2013 for Prescott and the Cowboys. The reaction to the hiring of former offensive coordinator, Brian Schottenheimer \u2013 was\u00a0poor to say the least\u00a0\u2013 and the team lost long-time stalwarts like Zack Martin and\u00a0DeMarcus Lawrence\u00a0in free agency this past offseason.<\/p>\n
If all three of: a.)\u00a0George Pickens\u00a0acclimatizes well to the Dallas offense and maximizes his great potential, b.)\u00a0Tyler Guyton\u00a0shows serious growth and\u00a0Tyler Booker\u00a0has a strong rookie season, and c.)\u00a0Javonte Williams\u00a0gets back to his rookie season form and\/or\u00a0Jaydon Blue\u00a0proves to be a borderline Pro-Bowl level back \u2013 then Dallas could have one of the best offenses in the league.<\/p>\n
Matt Eberflus, as much as he was bemoaned in Chicago \u2013 where he spent two and a half seasons as head coach, was a smart hire on defense as DC.<\/p>\n
Even with all that, predicting anything greater than a .500 season is really somewhat of a stretch.
