The Kansas City Chiefs seem like they can always find a way to win football games, even if the odds are stacked against them. The win against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, which kept the Chiefs undefeated in 2024 and included a blocked potential game-winning field goal, provided a perfect example of that.<\/p>\n

The Chiefs trailed almost the entire game before managing to get a slim 14-16 lead on Harrison Butker\u2019s 20-yard field goal with six minutes left on the clock. The Broncos then embarked on a methodical drive that saw them bleed out the clock and set up a 35-yarder for kicker Wil Lutz with one second remaining.<\/p>\n

Lutz has been automatic from 50 yards or less this season, and there was no reason to think he would miss this time. But the Chiefs\u2019 defense had other plans, plowing through the Broncos\u2019 field goal unit and allowing linebacker Leo Chenal to block the kick.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a complete shock, you know? Not much I can say about it,\u201d Chenal said after the game. \u201cI was really praying for something to happen. That moment is so heavy. There\u2019s a second on the clock, they\u2019re going to kick a field goal and you feel the weight of the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Chiefs remain the only undefeated team in the NFL this season, holding a 9-0 record. Overall, they have notched 15 straight wins, including their Super Bowl run last season.<\/p>\n

The Broncos, on the other hand, are now 5-5 and will need to put the crushing loss behind them soon if they want to stay in the playoff hunt.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
