Roman Anthony was scratched from the Boston Red Sox lineup just minutes before Monday\u2019s game against the Kansas City Royals.<\/p>\n

Anthony was seen stretching before the game before calling for a trainer and being removed from the lineup. Wilyer Abreu took his place and had an excellent game in the Red Sox\u2019s 8-5 win.<\/p>\n

After the game, Red Sox manager Alex Cora provided an update on the rookie.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll stay away from [Anthony] tomorrow,\u201d Cora said after the game on Monday. \u201cHe\u2019ll be okay to play tomorrow, but he took today off, he\u2019ll get tomorrow too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cora ruled out a stint on the injured list for Anthony.<\/p>\n

Anthony also spoke about the injury after the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cI came out to the line, everything felt normal all day. I felt something as I was stretching on the line and just figured we\u2019d be cautious with it. I was super uncomfortable and relayed that quickly, and just decided we were gonna shut it down,\u201d Anthony said.<\/p>\n

Anthony said he didn\u2019t feel anything in the days leading up to Monday and felt confident he wouldn\u2019t miss an extended amount of time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n
