The Boston Red Sox may have made few major moves in recent seasons because rival clubs hate the process of working with them to complete trades.<\/p>\n
There was hope heading into Thursday\u2019s MLB trade deadline that the Red Sox would make the kind of moves that helped further push them from being pretenders to playoff contenders. Unfortunately for fans, the club\u2019s only moves were for low-expectation veteran pitchers Dustin May and Steven Matz.<\/p>\n

It left many supporters letdown, and earned harsh reviews from MLB insiders. Most might assume that the asking price for certain players, like Sandy Alcantara, was too high, and that is why a rumored trade wasn\u2019t made. However, the big market club has made very few high-impact moves over the last couple of years. And that may be because teams can\u2019t stand working with Boston on trades.<\/p>\n
\u201cTeams hate dealing with the Red Sox,\u201d USA Today\u2019s Bob Nightengale said on the \u201cFoul Territory Show.\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s just tough to deal with Breslow. When you talk to GMs around the game, they say it\u2019s very tough to deal with the Red Sox. Craig Breslow in particular.<\/p>\n \u201cIf they\u2019re really going for it, they did a poor job because the Yankees got a whole lot better. Blue Jays got better. I think they\u2019re gonna be on the outside looking in. They may be sitting home, and the Texas Rangers take their place as that Wild Card team.\u201d<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n That is not a great sign that opposing teams don\u2019t like dealing with the Boston GM. Every franchise drives a hard bargain and is looking to get the better of a trade.
