The New York Yankees could be busy over the next few days as they try and make improvements to their roster. Could they be open to parting ways with Paul Goldschmidt in a trade?<\/p>\n
The Yankees have Ben Rice ready to take over first base next season. However, trading Goldschmidt now could help the Yankees improve their roster for this season, without sacrificing production at first base. In fact, Rice would potentially give the Yankees better production right now and help Boone get more of his better players in the lineup together.<\/p>\n

Goldschmidt is having a solid season overall, but since the start of June, he is hitting .207. He is going to be a free agent after the season, and SNY’s Andy Martino revealed the Yankees have brought him up in trade talks.<\/p>\n
“In that column, we relayed that the Yankees were floating some of their free-agent-to-be relievers in preliminary trade talks,” wrote Martino. “We have since learned through league sources that last week the Yanks brought up\u00a0Cody Bellinger\u00a0and\u00a0Paul Goldschmidt\u00a0in talks with at least one other club.”<\/p>\n
Martino did note that he would be surprised if Bellinger or Goldschmidt were traded. However, trading Goldschmidt could make sense for the Yankees.<\/p>\n

If Goldschmidt were traded, Ben Rice could take over as the everyday first baseman.
