This year’s MLB trade deadline is not one that most Baltimore Orioles fans are looking forward. The O’s were supposed to be playoff contenders and looking to add ahead of the July 31 deadline, but instead, they’ve become the AL East’s cellar dwellers and are looking to sell.<\/p>\n
There are some Orioles rumors that have fans a bit intrigued, though it’s difficult to call those rumblings exciting. On the other end of the spectrum, Baltimore’s shortcomings has some O’s fans on edge. What are two trade rumors Orioles fans hope come true, and two they hope don’t?<\/p>\n
The Orioles biggest need is pitching, and O’s fans are hoping that Ryan O’Hearn’s All-Star performance this season will be enough to garner at least a top pitching prospect or two.\u00a0The Arizona Diamondbacks recently received two young hurlers\u00a0from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for Josh Naylor, and the Orioles front office is looking for something similar, if not a little better.<\/p>\n
Mike Elias and the entire Orioles front office are about to have numerous sleepless nights as they look to do some wheeling and dealing at this year’s trade deadline. It’s quite possible that Baltimore will be the most active organization in the final days of the deadline, and O’s fans are hopeful that numerous trades will results in a rebuilt farm system heading into 2026. Players like O’Hearn, Zach Eflin, Charlie Morton, and others should fetch a nice return for the Orioles this<\/p>\n
Elias has been quite clear about his intentions\u00a0at this year’s trade deadline. The Orioles GM said he’s not blowing up the team, but players “who are coming towards the end of their contracts” will be made available at the trade deadline. O’s fans are just hoping that Trevor Rogers is among that group. Rogers,\u00a0who was acquired at last year’s trade deadline, becomes a free agent after next season and owns a 1.74 ERA. Recent reports suggested\u00a0other teams were inquiring about Rogers’ availability.<\/p>\n
There’ve been no concrete rumors linking any team to Orioles’ catcher Adley Rutschman, and his current IL status certainly doesn’t boost his trade value.<\/p>\n
But there’s enough smoke surrounding Rutschman’s uncertain future that inquiring teams may seek to land the former first-round pick.
