The San Francisco 49ers have avoided any major injury problems through the first three practices of training camp, but they may be without one of their starting cornerbacks for a period of time.<\/p>\n
According to reports from camp, second year CB Renardo Green exited Friday’s session early. NBC Sports Bay Area’s Jennifer Lee Chan noted on Twitter that Green “came off the field a little gimpy.” He didn’t return to practice and appeared to be trying to stretch out his hamstring per Chan’s report.<\/p>\n

The 49ers have to hope the injury isn’t anything major. Green put together a strong rookie campaign after being selected 64th overall in last year’s draft. He’s in line to start alongside Deommodore Lenoir at CB this season.<\/p>\n
San Francisco’s depth is okay the position, but it’s not a spot the club probably feels great about if they have to dig too far into their depth chart. Free agent signee Tre Brown has gotten first-team work in the slot. He’ll likely be first up to hold down a starting job on the outside if Green does have to miss time. That would pave the way for rookie third-round pick Upton Stout to get more first-team reps in the slot.<\/p>\n
It’s unlikely we’ll get an update on Green on Saturday since it’s a day off for the 49ers. They’ll return to practice Sunday at which point there should be an update on his status.<\/p>\n
