MICAH Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys are taking their contract standoff into training camp.<\/p>\n
After Jerry Jones took a shot at Parsons in a press conference, the superstar defender gave a strong statement to the media on Tuesday.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n 3<\/p>\n<\/div> <\/p>\n 3<\/p>\n<\/div> On Monday, Jones indicated that Parsons’ injury history was a reason why the two parties couldn’t come to an agreement on an extension.<\/p>\n Despite the contract battle, Parsons has been participating in training camp workouts while fighting for his deal.<\/p>\n “I wanna be here, I\u2019ve always said I wanna be here, but at the end of the day, they sign the checks like always,” he said.<\/p>\n “Let\u2019s see if they want me to be here at the end of the day.”<\/p>\n Parsons was asked if being present at training camp would help his negotiations, which caused him to fire back at Jones.<\/p>\n “I think they got their own timeline on when they want to get things done,” Parsons said.<\/p>\n “So I don\u2019t think that helps. I\u2019m doing this for myself and my teammates. This isn\u2019t for Jerry, this isn\u2019t for Stephen [Jones].<\/p>\n “I can get better by just being here and being here for [my teammates].”<\/p>\n Jones showed optimism on Monday that a deal would get done with Parsons, but that was before he took aim at Parsons’ injuries.<\/p>\n “Just because we sign him, doesn\u2019t mean we\u2019re going to have him. He was hurt six games last year, seriously,” Jones said on Monday.<\/p>\n Dallas Cowboys\u2019 Top Draft Pick Shavon Revel Injured: What\u2019s Next for Jerry Jones?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n “I remember signing a player for the highest paid at the position in the league and he got knocked out two-thirds of the year, Dak Prescott, so there\u2019s a lot of things you can think about, just as the player does when you\u2019re thinking about committing and guaranteeing money.”<\/p>\n Parsons didn’t miss six games last year, he only missed four, and he was highly productive in the games that he did play.<\/p>\n He had 12 sacks, 43 tackles, and 12 tackles for loss in the 13 games that he played.<\/p>\n Before his injury in 2024, Parsons had only missed one game in his career, which was in his rookie season when he made the Pro Bowl, All-Pro team, and won Defensive Rookie of the Year.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n 3<\/p>\n<\/div> The fact that Jones called out Parsons’ miniscule injury history seemingly gave him some pause about the owner he plays for.<\/p>\n “When you go around the league and see these other teams taking care of their best guys,” Parsons said.<\/p>\n “You wish you had that same type of energy.”<\/p>\n If Parsons doesn’t come to an agreement with the Cowboys he will be a free agent at the end of the 2025 season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" MICAH Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys are taking their contract standoff into training camp.
