Su\u00e1rez has had a. great season and was named an All-Star. However, the veteran is going to be a free agent after the season, and the Yankees would be looking for an answer at third base again in the winter. The Yankees could try to add a controllable third baseman with some upside.<\/p>\n

There may not be any real solid options for the Yankees at third base besides Su\u00e1rez. However, The Athletic’s Jim Bowden proposed a wild trade idea that would swap Cody Bellinger for New York Mets’ third baseman Mark Vientos.<\/p>\n
“Maybe there\u2019s even a deal to be had with the crosstown Mets, who could offer Mark Vientos for Jasson Dom\u00ednguez or Cody Bellinger or perhaps Brett Baty for Trent Grisham,” wrote Bowden. “There just aren\u2019t a lot of sellers at this trade deadline, so GMs will have to get creative; GM Brian Cashman has a long track record of doing that.”<\/p>\n
Vientos was great last season, and the Yankees could view him as a player with some upside. However, trading Bellinger would be a bold move. He has a player option for next season, but has played like a player worthy of a new deal to keep him in the Bronx.<\/p>\n

Vientos has a .628 OPS this season, and may not even be able to solve the Yankees’ third base woes. However, if he can get back to playing like last season, he could end up being the everyday third baseman for the next few years. Last year he slashed .266\/.322\/.516 with 27 home runs.
