Charlotte Knights vs Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp \u2014 POSTPONED
\nThis game was postponed due to rain, and will be made up at a later date. The Knights (43-43) were up 3-2 in the series against the Jumbo Shrimp (53-33), and were coming off of a 7-2 win on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Chattanooga Lookouts 7, Birmingham Barons 1
\nThe score was essentially flip-flopped from the day before, but the Barons (43-38) offense fell flat behind a tough Riley Gowens start, and ended up losing to the Lookouts (43-34), 7-1, and 4-2 in the series. Birmingham was only able to score one run on four hits, with Ryan Galanie account for the lone extra-base hit (a double), and Calvin Harris driving in the sole Barons tally \u2014 a base hit to left that scored Caden Connor in the second.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, the pitching also wasn\u2019t much to write home about. Gowens made his 16th start of the season and earned his fourth loss. Chattanooga blasted two home runs against him, one in the first and one in the fifth, and Gowens ended up with four earned runs on seven hits with three strikeouts in his 4 \u2154 innings of work.<\/p>\n

Jordan Mikel wasn\u2019t much better in relief, and allowed three more runs in the sixth, but either way the offense was nowhere to be found whether they were chasing four or seven. Dalton Roach and Mark McLaughlin pitched the final two innings, and they didn\u2019t allow any runs \u2014 and only Roach allowed a hit.<\/p>\n

      Hub City Spartanburgers 4, Winston-Salem Dash 1
      \nThe Dash (29-51) won the first game of the series, and then never again, now riding a five-game losing streak after losing to the Spartanburgers (40-40), 4-1. Both teams posted five hits, and Hub City somehow scored four runs while going 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position, though they had two extra-base hits and the Dash were unable to match. Alec Markarewicz was able to get two hits on the day. Winston-Salem scored first, and the only RBI went to Cole McConnell in the second inning.<\/p>\n

      On the pitching front, Manuel Veloz had a solid five-inning start and allowed just one run on a solo homer, and walked two while striking out five. Carson Jacobs ended up with the loss, though, as he imploded with four walks and a hit that led to two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Outside of that, Gil Luna was the only Dash pitcher who did not allow a run, but the bats took a snooze and the Spartan Burgers were able to run away with it.<\/p>\n
