UPDATE: Grisham has left the game with hamstring tightness, the Yankees announced.<\/p>\n
The New York Yankees were dealt tough injury news before their four-game stint in Toronto against the Blue Jays. Fernando Cruz hit the IL, which will put more strain on the bullpen, and a potential injury to Austin Wells kept him out of action again (and might explain his struggles).<\/p>\n
It didn’t end there, though. Trent Grisham was removed from Monday night’s game in the fifth inning without explanation. Jasson Dominguez came in to play left field and Cody Bellinger shifted over to center.<\/p>\n
Grisham recorded the first hit of the night (and was the Yankees’ first baserunner) in the top of the fourth when he singled off Max Scherzer. Jazz Chisholm followed with a two-run homer to put New York up 2-0.<\/p>\n
Yankees fans are not handling the news well. Grisham might’ve cooled off a bit offensively as of late, but he’s still one of the most important players in the lineup as he’s delivered on both sides of the ball for much of 2025.<\/p>\n Trent Grisham is out of the game. The YES broadcast has been waiting for an update.<\/p>\n Thankfully, the Yankees have the outfield depth to absorb the loss of Grisham. It just won’t be easy to replace his production on a consistent basis, but it’ll at least mean more playing time for Dominguez in the interim.
