FRISCO – Nope. Once again, they’re getting it wrong.<\/p>\n

One day after a report suggests that the Dallas Cowboys and defensive star Micah Parsons are “making progress” – and CowboysCountry.com reporting that none of those involved can really confirm that there is much movement there – comes another report suggesting a major change in what Micah and owner Jerry Jones are planning on doing together.<\/p>\n

What we have been reporting for months: Parsons is interested in signing a lengthy five-year deal at around $40 million per season … with the $200 million total helping to make him the highest-paid non-QB ever.<\/p>\n

And Parsons has explained that to Jones.<\/p>\n

And Jones has acknowledged publicly that the two sides are on the same page in many ways.<\/p>\n

But all of that was two months ago. … and we do not sense that in any substantial way are coming any closer to terms a contract extension. Midway through June the two sides are at the same place they were months ago when the offseason was in its infancy stages.<\/p>\n

Having said that, we also view a deal as inevitable.<\/p>\n

So what has changed?<\/p>\n

According to NFL Network, Micah Parsons could seek a shorter extension than the Cowboys traditionally prefer so he can return to the market at age 29 or 30 … and that the Cowboys might need to ‘shave a year or even two off’ of their offer to seal the deal.<\/p>\n

We’re not sure why the Cowboys want to do that given that Micah wants to lock in long-term. And now we have a source explaining …<\/p>\n

The Cowboys do not particularly want to do that.<\/p>\n

Nor does Micah.<\/p>\n

The report, a source close to the negotiations tells CowboysCountry.com, is “simply not true.”<\/p>\n

To Parsons’ credit, he has not distanced himself from his team during this process, vowing to maintain a presence at training camp in Oxnard even if his deal isn’t done.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Parsons has kept things extremely civil on his front despite the obvious frustrations of not having his deal done. … though he has noted that Dallas’ habit of waiting does logically mean the Cowboys\u2019 price is just going to rise.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s going to cost them more,\u201d Parsons said.<\/p>\n

That is the spilling of a brutal truth.<\/p>\n

But a change in what Micah wants in terms of being a “Cowboy for Life” in terms of a lengthy deal? And in terms of the Cowboys wanting the same?<\/p>\n
