The San Francisco 49ers will enter the 2025 season looking for some redemption. After missing the playoffs entirely last year, the 49ers will be out for blood this season to prove that they still belong at the top of the NFC.<\/p>\n

Part of the issues for San Francisco last year were injuries, and it seriously decimated the team. The 49ers just couldn’t overcome the hits that the roster took, and it saw them completely underperform.<\/p>\n

One of those injuries was to star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who suffered a brutal knee injury. But as the year gets closer, 49ers general manager John Lynch revealed a massive injury update on the star wide-out.<\/p>\n

“Brandon’s tracking in a good way with his knee, and you’ve just got to kind of let that play out. We’re not going to put him out there until he’s ready, but we’re excited with our receiver group and where we’re at.”<\/p>\n

Aiyuk was limited to just seven games last season due to the injury. This saw his production drop exponentially, as he registered just 25 catches for 374 yards and zero touchdowns.<\/p>\n

Before last season, Aiyuk had put up two straight 1,000-yard-plus seasons, leading to him receiving a big contract extension. San Francisco signed him to a four-year deal that was worth $120 million, with $45 million guaranteed at signing.<\/p>\n

Aiyuk is one of the more important pieces to this 49ers team, so the hope is that he can return to the field as soon as possible. With the 49ers trading away co-star Deebo Samuel this offseason, San Francisco will be relying on others to step up heavily.<\/p>\n

The 49ers just signed quarterback Brock Purdy to an extension, so there will be stability leading the charge. Purdy needs his offensive weapons, but will make due until Aiyuk can return to the field.<\/p>\n

Luckily for the 49ers, they will be playing a last-place schedule this year. This could see them get back to the postseason, and potentially make some noise in the playoffs.<\/p>\n

San Francisco is all set to open the new season when they take on the rival Seattle Seahawks on the road on Sunday, September 7, at 4:05 p.m. ET.<\/p>\n
