If Juan Soto regrets spurning the New York Yankees to sign with the Mets, Michael Kay has three words of advice: get over it.<\/p>\n

As Juan Soto struggles in his first season of a 15-year, $765 million deal with the New York Mets, there\u2019s this growing narrative that he\u2019s upset about leaving the Yankees. That narrative has reached new heights after Soto returned to Yankee Stadium as a Met for the Subway Series and had a disappointing showing.<\/p>\n

Tuesday afternoon, the New York Yankees play-by-play voice told Soto to get over his remorse.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s gotta get over it. He\u2019s not going back to the Yankees. He\u2019s just not. He\u2019s locked in for 15 years with the Mets. This is his home. He\u2019s gotta make the most of it. And again, he\u2019s not in hell! He\u2019s in a great team with great players that have a chance to win a World Series,\u201d Kay said on his ESPN New York radio show. \u201cYou gotta get over it, Juan. You didn\u2019t land in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. You landed in New York City, in another borough. So even if you have some wanderlust that, \u2018maybe I shouldn\u2019t have left the Yankees,\u2019 you gotta get over it!<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause it can\u2019t be undone. You can\u2019t put the milk back in the udder. You\u2019re a New York Met, you\u2019re a New York Met for a long, long time. And I\u2019m telling you, people will push back on me, he\u2019ll get over it. Even if he is feeling the things that a lot of people think he\u2019s feeling, that he really wanted to be a Yankee and might still want to. He\u2019ll get over it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kay has been one of the people pushing the narrative, but he isn\u2019t alone. Longtime New York area sportswriter Bob Klapisch recently claimed Soto is \u201cmiserable\u201d with the Mets. Kay, meanwhile told his radio audience that unnamed Mets officials have said Soto is \u201cvery glum\u201d around the clubhouse. Kay furthered his report by claiming Soto wanted to stay with the Yankees, but his family pushed him to the Mets. And now Kay is telling Soto to get over it.<\/p>\n

But what if there\u2019s nothing to get over? Soto hasn\u2019t complained about being with the Mets. And it would be one thing if he seemed glum about leaving a team like the Washington Nationals, where he started his career as a 19-year-old and won a World Series. But the Yankees were already the third team of Soto\u2019s career. Soto may have loved his one season with the Yankees before moving within the same city to the Mets, but it\u2019s hard to believe he loved that one season so much that it\u2019s already causing him to sour on the $765 million the Mets are paying him.<\/p>\n

And even through his disappointing start, he\u2019s still on pace for 27 homers, 67 RBIs, and a .379 OBP. Numbers that aren\u2019t worth $765 million, but numbers that are almost identical to his 2022 campaign. It\u2019s not like he\u2019s producing at a historically low level.<\/p>\n

Maybe Soto will start seeming happier once everyone stops telling him how miserable he is to be on a team with the wealthiest owner in baseball.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
