At the end of April, the Knights were only one game below .500, and their record would have been much worse if not for Tim Elko. Elko, 26, is a first baseman with a ton of power, which he displayed early and often. Elko led the way with nine home runs en route to a sparkling 1.159 OPS. Although Elko is not in MLB Pipeline’s Top 30 White Sox prospects and sits at No. 39 among South Side Sox Top 100 prospects, he captured a lot of attention in April, and he deserved it. Given the lack of White Sox hitting, especially at Elko’s position, Elko’s case for a promotion is compelling. Elko has not made his MLB debut yet, but his time is coming.

2025 Charlotte Knights Players of the Month

Tim Elko (March-April)

Birmingham Barons

March/April record 12-10 Overall record 12-10

Barons Player of the Month

Andrew Dalquist 0.00 ERA, 14 ⅓ IP, 4 BB, 13 K

William Bergolla .338/.413/.423, 0 HR, 7 RBI, 11-for-12 stolen bases, 71 at-bats
Jacob Gonzalez .250/.345/.303, 0 HR, 5 RBI, 76 at-bats
Wilfred Veras .224/.320/.388, 4 HR, 14 RBI, 85 at-bats
Mario Camilletti .254/.376/.352, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 71 at-bats
Rikuu Nishida .263/.417/.316, 0 HR, 3 RBI, 11-for-12 stolen bases, 57 at-bats

Noah Schultz 3.42 ERA, 23 2⁄3 IP, 13 BB, 24 K
Hagen Smith 3.06 ERA, 17 2⁄3 IP, 16 BB, 32 K
Wikelman González 4.41 ERA, 16 ⅓ IP, 14 BB, 21 K
Riley Gowens 5.17 ERA, 15 2⁄3 IP, 5 BB, 20 K
Grant Taylor 0.79 ERA, 11 ⅓ IP, 10 BB, 14 K

The Barons started out strong, finishing the month two games better than .500. The Barons only averaged 3.86 runs per game, but the pitching staff did its job, only allowing 3.45. Granted, Regions Field is friendly for pitchers, but only 10 of Birmingham’s games were played there. Also, even if every game was played at Regions Field, only allowing 3.45 runs per game across 22 games would be impressive. It is no surprise that this month’s MVP is a pitcher, but it may be a surprise that the award is going to a reliever. Andrew Dalquist, 24, could hardly have performed any better than he did. Across 14 1⁄3 masterful innings. opposing hitters only slashed .093/.170/.163 against him. Dalquist played all of 2024 with the Barons, posting a 3.06 ERA and 3.44 FIP in 47 innings. While those numbers are strong, Dalquist took his performance to another level this month. If Dalquist keeps this up, it will not be long before he is in Charlotte.

2025 Birmingham Barons Players of the Month

Andrew Dalquist (March-April)

Winston-Salem Dash

March/April record 9-14 Overall record 9-14

Dash Player of the Month

Lucas Gordon 2.28 ERA, 23 2⁄3 IP, 8 BB, 27 K

Ryan Galanie .315/.356/.565, 4 HR, 23 RBI, 92 at-bats
Jeral Perez .241/.333/.578, 7 HR, 18 RBI, 83 at-bats
Caden Connor .266/.383/.359, 2 HR, 14 RBI, 64 at-bats
Sam Antonacci .273/.457/.403, 1 HR, 12 RBI, 10-for-12 stolen bases, 77 at-bats
Wes Kath .209/.320/.419, 1 HR, 9 RBI, 43 at-bats

Jack Bockenstedt 3.98 ERA, 20 1⁄3 IP, 10 BB, 17 K
Tanner McDougal 2.08 ERA, 21 2⁄3 IP, 16 BB, 23 K
Seth Keener 11.40 ERA, 15 IP, 6 BB, 18 K
Tommy Vail 5.40 ERA, 13 1⁄3 IP, 9 BB, 20 K
Jared Kelley 0.00 ERA, 8 2⁄3 IP, 3 BB, 12 K

The Dash had a rough month, but there were a few silver linings. The Dash are not expected to have a good record in 2025, as they started the season with only one player in the organizational Top 30. In addition, the Dash had a +11 run differential in April despite the 9-14 record.

Starting pitcher Lucas Gordon, 23, won a tight race for team MVP with his strong performance on the mound. Gordon posted a 2.28 ERA across five starts, as he provided the Dash rotation with a much-needed boost. Honorable mention goes to Tanner McDougal, who slightly edged out Gordon in terms of ERA, so he did some heavy lifting, too. However, Gordon edged out McDougal in strikeout rate, walk rate, and home run rate.

On the offensive side, Ryan Galanie led the way with a .921 OPS, which led the team. Jeral Perez, a middle infielder who nonetheless cranked out seven homers, was not far behind, with a .911 OPS. Sam Antonacci’s .457 OBP also turned some heads, and he added 10 stolen bases in 12 attempts.

2025 Winston-Salem Dash Players of the Month

Lucas Gordon (March-April)

Kannapolis Cannon Ballers

March/April record 13-10 Overall record 13-10

Cannon Ballers Player of the Month

Braden Montgomery .304/.393/.493, 3 HR, 19 RBI, 6-for-8 stolen bases, 69 at-bats (promoted to Winston-Salem on April 29)

Nathan Archer .273/.342/.409, 2 HR, 8 RBI, 8-for-9 stolen bases, 66 at-bats
Javier Mogollón .240/.400/.440, 2 HR, 13 RBI, 8-for-11 stolen bases, 75 at-bats
Caleb Bonemer .280/.411/.467, 1 HR, 17 RBI, 8-for-10 stolen bases, 75 at-bats
Calvin Harris .278/.317/.463, 1 HR, 13 RBI, 54 at-bats
Lyle Miller-Green .262/.384/.475, 1 HR, 7 RBI, 5-for-5 stolen bases, 61 at-bats
George Wolkow .139/.235/.194, 1 HR, 10 RBI, 72 at-bats

Christian Oppor 2.45 ERA, 18 1⁄3 IP, 7 BB, 30 K
Nick Pinto 6.11 ERA, 17 2⁄3 IP, 7 BB, 17 K
Ricardo Brizuela 2.70 ERA, 16 2⁄3 IP, 9 BB, 16 K
Luis Reyes 6.60 ERA, 15 IP, 5 BB, 19 K
Morris Austin 2.51 ERA, 14 1⁄3 IP, 7 BB, 13 K
Justin Sinibaldi 5.65 ERA, 14 1⁄3 IP, 4 BB, 14 K
Aric McAtee 0.68 ERA, 13 1⁄3 IP, 4 BB, 14 K

The Cannon Ballers got off to a strong start, edging out the Barons for the best record in the organization. Braden Montgomery, 22, a key component of the Garrett Crochet trade, earned the Kannapolis Player of the Month award. The Red Sox drafted Montgomery in the first round in 2024, and so far, Montgomery is living up to the hype. In April, Montgomery led Kannapolis with three homers, 19 RBIs, and a .886 OPS.
