The 2025\u00a0NFL Draft\u00a0concluded on Saturday, and the reigning AFC Champion\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs\u00a0have made a few moves following it.<\/p>\n
The Chiefs made seven selections in the draft, and they also dropped some players to make room for the rookies. Another reason they would cut players would be to allow the team to pick up any undrafted free agents that they feel could help them in the long run.<\/p>\n
The players who were let go were tight ends Anthony Firkser and Baylor Cupp, linebacker Shaun Bradley, guard McKade Mettauer, and safety Jason Taylor II. Three of the picks the Chiefs made were an offensive linemen, a linebacker, and a defensive back, which will help replace the players they cut.<\/p>\n
Firkser and Cupp appeared in a combined four games for the Chiefs in 2024, as the team has their tight end position locked up with\u00a0Travis Kelce\u00a0and Noah Gray. The other three players did not appear in any games this past season.<\/p>\n
The most notable selections the Chiefs made in the 2025 draft were\u00a0Ohio State\u00a0offensive tackle Josh Simmons, Tennessee defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott, and a new weapon in Utah State wide receiver Jalen Royals.<\/p>\n
The Chiefs are coming off of a disappointing 40-22 loss in the\u00a0Super Bowl\u00a0to the\u00a0Philadelphia Eagles. As a result, they will be hoping that the young talent they selected in this year’s draft will help them get back to the big game and redeem themselves.<\/p>\n
