THE San Francisco 49ers are nearing a deal with Brock Purdy.<\/p>\n
Brock Purdy is reportedly going to earn $50 million per season on his new deal.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n 2<\/p>\n<\/div> <\/p>\n 2<\/p>\n<\/div> Quarterback contracts have skyrocketed in recent years, and it appears that Purdy will be the next to benefit from that trend.<\/p>\n He is playing on the final year of his rookie contract in 2025, and will need an extension to remain with the 49ers.<\/p>\n Purdy broke out in a bug way during the 2023 season.<\/p>\n He passed for 4,290 yards with 31 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, making the Pro Bowl and finishing top-five in MVP voting.<\/p>\n However, he came back down to earth last season, passing for 3,863 yards with just 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.<\/p>\n The 49ers were just 6-9 in games he played and they finished with a 6-11 record overall.<\/p>\n Still, it looks like they are ready to reward him with a massive contract.<\/p>\n $50 million a season would put Purdy among the highest-paid players in the league.<\/p>\n Notably, he would be making more money than Patrick Mahomes, Matthew Stafford, and Baker Mayfield.<\/p>\n Mayfield’s contract looks like a steal in the current market.<\/p>\n \u2018What we need\u2019 \u2013 Mike Tomlin confirms why Pittsburgh Steelers didn\u2019t choose Shedeur Sanders in NFL Draft first-round<\/p>\n<\/div>\n He makes just $33 million per season and just had a season with 4,500 passing yards and 41 touchdowns.<\/p>\n Purdy will make nearly $20 million more per season than him on a new contract.<\/p>\n While it seems like a lot now, in five or 10 years $50 million will probably look like chump change compared to what players are signing for then.<\/p>\n NFL fans are stunned by the numbers that are being thrown around in Purdy’s contract talks though, and questioned if he is worth that much money.<\/p>\n March 12 – Free Agency begins<\/p>\n April 24-26 – NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin<\/p>\n September 4 – 2025 season opener (TBC vs Eagles)<\/p>\n November 27 – Thanksgiving Day triple header<\/p>\n January 4, 2026 – End of regular-season<\/p>\n February 8, 2026 – Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n “WOW.
