Former\u00a0San Francisco 49ers\u00a0linebacker Dre Greenlaw sustained an injury to his quadriceps while working out on Sunday; that much is not being debated.<\/p>\n
The issue should not sideline him for any portion of training camp or the regular season, according to the most recent published reports.<\/p>\n
Benjamin Allbright, who covers Greenlaw’s new team, the\u00a0Denver Broncos, said the injury is not believed to be as serious as once thought. Allbright has it from a reliable source the injury is just a strain.<\/p>\n

Jennifer Lee Chan\u00a0of NBC Sports Bay Area initially reported the damage was “serious” and substantial and was going to require surgery, which would have sidelined Greenlaw for at least part of the 2025 regular season.<\/p>\n
“Greenlaw suffered a torn quadriceps while working out, sources said,” according to Chan. “The injury could force him to miss a portion of the upcoming 2025\u00a0NFL\u00a0season.”<\/p>\n
Sunday night, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio backed up Allbright’s report. He stated Chan’s initial findings were “greatly exaggerated” and Greenlaw will be fine for training camp.<\/p>\n
“The\u00a0reports of the demise\u00a0of Dre Greenlaw\u2019s season have been greatly exaggerated,” Florio said. “Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Greenlaw will be ready to go in eight weeks.<\/p>\n
“However it plays out, he\u2019ll be ready to go for the start of training camp.”<\/p>\n
There has been no comment from anyone affiliated with the Broncos organization.<\/p>\n
Greenlaw missed most of last season after he tore his Achilles in\u00a0Super Bowl 58. He only played two game before knee and calf soreness related to his Achilles ended his season prematurely.<\/p>\n
