Sunday brought another head-scratching day: the Braves recalled RHP Davis Daniel to Atlanta and designated veteran RHP Jesse Chavez for assignment. Chavez has been a fan favorite over the years, but at some point, the cycle gets exhausting.<\/p>\n
One fan on social media joked, “I feel like this is going to cause MLB to create a Jesse Chavez Rule: \u2018You can only sign the same player to a minor-league deal twice in the same year.'”<\/p>\n
Honestly, it’s hard to argue with that. The Braves also claimed former Brave Ian Anderson off waivers from the Angels – another desperate attempt to patch together a broken pitching staff.<\/p>\n
Atlanta’s strategy seems to be “bring back anyone we can, even if moving on would make a lot more sense.” Instead of looking for fresh arms or making bold moves, the Braves are stuck on the circle of life: get rid of a pitcher, then bring him back a few weeks later, and repeat the cycle as needed.<\/p>\n
