\u201cJalen Tolbert, Jonathan Mingo, Ryan Flournoy, all of those guys have the potential to be a No. 2. They just haven’t shown that yet.<\/p>\n

It’s why we’ve had an interest in upgrading that room. If we don’t come away in this draft with a clear No. 2, we’ll look and see what’s out there.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Cowboys do not have a fourth round pick because of their trade for WR Jonathan Mingo.<\/p>\n

Jerry Jones said they look at Mingo as their fourth round pick. Jones reminded everyone that they had a second-round grade on Mingo in the 2023 draft<\/p>\n

The Dallas Cowboys appear ready to make the same mistake during the 2025 NFL draft that they did during the 2024 NFL draft.<\/p>\n

Dallas had one of the worst running back stables in the league, but ignored the position all weekend. Ultimately, they went with Ezekiel Elliott as their starter, who struggled mightily. Rico Dowdle eventually replaced him and was far better than expected, but they were still just 29th in rushing yards as a team.<\/p>\n

It appeared they learned from their mistake, with much of their attention during the pre-draft process being focused on running backs. After listening to executive vice president Stephen Jones ahead of Day 2 of the draft, it seems that was false hope.<\/p>\n

Jones said he likes “what we did in free agency,” while stating they don’t have to draft a running back this year.<\/p>\n

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones on @1053thefan said Dallas doesn’t have to draft a running back. “I like what we did in free agency. We don’t really feel like we have to pick a position anywhere. We don’t feel the need to have to reach.”<\/p>\n

If that holds true, the Cowboys will go into the season with Javonte Williams, Miles Sanders, and Deuce Vaughn as their three running backs.
