As it currently stands, the White Sox are 5-19. I\u2019m sure this wasn\u2019t the record most people were hoping for coming into the season, but it allows fans to focus on the farm system, as there are plenty of prospects in the minor leagues that could help out the big league team sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n
One of the names to pay attention to is William Bergolla, the second basemen for the Birmingham Barons, the AA affiliate of the White Sox.<\/p>\n
If you are not familiar with Bergolla, he was one of the White Sox acquisitions at the trade deadline last year. In what seemed like a minor trade at the time, the White Sox sent Tanner Banks to the Phillies in exchange for Bergolla.<\/p>\n
Prior to the trade, Bergolla hit .295 with a .350 OBP and a .735 OPS with the high-A affiliate of the Phillies, which is very good for a 19 year old in high-A. He added one homer, 29 RBIs, and had 18 stolen bases as well.<\/p>\n
However, after the trade, Bergolla was even better for the White Sox. In 76 at-bats for the Dash, Bergolla hit .316 with a .386 OBP. He added two triples, 11 RBIs, and nine stolen bases. Now, after a strong Spring Training and a promotion to Birmingham, Bergolla has continued to improve in the White Sox organization.<\/p>\n
In 13 games for the Barons, Bergolla is hitting .313 with a very good .400 OBP. He has five RBIs and has six walks to just eight strikeouts, which is a very good ratio.<\/p>\n

On top of that, Bergolla has eight stolen bases so far. This is a great start to the season for Bergolla and he looks to cement himself in the future of the Chicago White Sox. If these stats weren\u2019t impressive enough, he is doing this as a 20 year old in AA, which is much younger than the average player.<\/p>\n

While Bergolla doesn\u2019t offer much in terms of power, as he only has one homerun in his minor league career, he has exceptional bat to ball skills and consistently gets on base. He profiles perfectly as the type of player that Chris Getz has been targeting and he could make a push as the second basemen of the future for the White Sox.<\/p>\n
Bergolla would be a fantastic leadoff hitter for the White Sox and he and Chase Meidroth would be a nightmare for opposing pitchers if they hit back to back in the lineup. Look for Bergolla to continue his hot start and potentially get a promotion to AAA this season, with a push for the majors in 2026.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
