The Boston Red Sox are one of Major League Baseball’s hottest clubs as April winds down. After an up-and-down start to the 2025 season, the Red Sox are back on track with seven wins in their last nine games ahead of Wednesday evening’s clash with the Seattle Mariners, leaving time to tell if Alex Cora’s team can continue extending the momentum.<\/p>\n
As promising as things look right now, the Red Sox’s future is also bright thanks to one of the MLB’s best groups of prospects. Kristian Campbell has already lived up to the hype after being one of Boston’s ‘Big 3’ prospects, making fans wonder when Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer will join their fellow top prospect in the Majors.<\/p>\n
As it turns out, one of the pair just took a major step toward his MLB debut.<\/p>\n
Red Sox fans are highly anticipating Anthony’s eventual call-up as baseball’s No. 2 prospect continues to dominate the minors. But as good as he’s been, Boston has been waiting to call up the outfield phenom as he continues to rehab from a shoulder injury that’s recently limited him to designated hitter duties.<\/p>\n
The Red Sox want Anthony to play a good chunk of games in the outfield before promoting him, which is a journey that officially begins in less than 24 hours.<\/p>\n

His electric bat is exactly what Boston needs right now, with the likes of Triston Casas, Ceddanne Rafaela, and Rafael Devers playing inconsistently at the plate.<\/p>\n As the Red Sox veterans have struggled, Anthony has exceeded the hype with Triple-A Worcester. The former 2022 second-rounder is slashing .286\/.419\/.543 with four home runs, four doubles, 12 RBIs, and 16 walks in 19 games (70 at-bats) with the WooSox. He’s also been perfect defensively with a flawless fielding percentage and 19 putouts in the outfield.<\/p>\n Hopefully, Anthony won’t experience any setbacks so that his promising development can continue. The Red Sox’s lineup will only become more threatening if the West Palm Beach, FL native can terrorize MLB pitchers to the same extent as he’s done to minor-league arms.<\/p>\n It’ll be interesting to see if a mid-season call-up can help Cora’s club bring a title back to Beantown.
