Urgency to improve increased on Saturday, when the Dodgers suffered a humbling 16-0 loss to the Chicago Cubs, their worst-ever defeat at Dodger Stadium.<\/p>\n
Bob Nightengale of USA Today recently reported that the Dodgers have spoken to the Chicago White Sox about acquiring All-Star outfielder Luis Robert Jr. Two seasons removed from swatting 38 home runs on the South Side of Chicago, Robert’s name continues to be circulated in trade rumors. If the Dodgers resume discussions with the White Sox, it would be with an eye toward adding Robert to a lineup that already includes Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and reigning NL MVP Shohei Ohtani. However, Robert himself has made it clear that he is “glad” to remain in Chicago, such is his love for the White Sox organization.<\/p>\n
“I didn’t think I’d be here,” Robert told ESPN through an interpreter. “But I’m glad that I’m here. This is the organization that made my dream come true.” The White Sox hold club options on Robert for the 2026 and 2027 seasons. But as of Tuesday, Chicago holds the worst record in the AL at 4-11; given that the South Siders are in the early stages of a rebuild, trade chatter will continue to follow Robert, their top movable asset, for weeks and months to come.<\/p>\n
