The Dallas Cowboys have several players that they want to offer contract extensions to, all of them Pro Bowl players. However, the most important one is two-time First Team All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons, who is currently heading into the 2025 season on his fifth year option worth $24 million.<\/p>\n

Having already secured wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott to historic deals, the Cowboys will almost surely need another one in order to retain Parsons. And owner Jerry Jones, in particular, is confident that they will be able to do so.<\/p>\n

So vital to Dallas\u2019 immediate future is agreeing to an extension with Parsons that Jones told reporters at the NFL owners meetings that he is handling the negotiations himself.<\/p>\n

What is more, Jones claimed that he is talking to Parsons directly without going through his agent.<\/p>\n

\u201cI spent five, six hours with him myself and had a lot of discussions. Most of the issues we\u2019re in agreement on and discussed it all. But we obviously don\u2019t have an agreement relative to a new contract.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not uncommon for me to visit directly with players. And in this particular case, it\u2019s what I\u2019m doing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe agent is not a factor here or something to worry about. And I don\u2019t know his name. My point is, I\u2019m not trying to demean him, but this isn\u2019t about an agent. \u2026 I\u2019m not demeaning the agent. I\u2019m just saying everybody can do this, and that\u2019s talk directly to a player.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd frankly most people that negotiate with me will tell me that that was better.\u201d<\/p>\n

This claim, that he is negotiating with Parsons without his agent, was one that the star pass rusher was deeply offended by, and fans certainly seemed to back him up.<\/p>\n

That agent, David Mulugheta, is highly respected in the business. Parsons did not take too kindly to Jones insulting him by saying that he did not even know his name:<\/p>\n

Facts!! David is the best and I will not be doing any deal without @DavidMulugheta involved! Like anyone with good sense I hired experts for a reason.
