We have heard all offseason that the Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive line is still perhaps the biggest question mark hanging over the offense. With Patrick Mahomes sacked a career-high 36 times in the regular season, and getting pounded against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl, the franchise signed San Francisco 49ers backup Jaylon Moore to nail down the starting left tackle role.<\/p>\n
For most, that isn’t enough to ease the fears over Mahomes’ blindside protection, and in the first round of the draft, many have the Chiefs going left tackle with Josh Conerly Jr. or Josh Simmons, the names mostly mocked by several publications. But for Yahoo Sports, the Chiefs go a different way, and add another explosive playmaker to Mahomes’ arsenal in Texas stud Matthew Golden.<\/p>\n
Offensive line is very much in play here, and there are some interesting names the Chiefs could look at,” Yahoo Sports writes. “They instead dip their pen back into the Longhorn ink and take another Texas wide receiver in Golden. He is a smooth athlete who can win against press. He would give Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense yet another weapon to open things up, beat man coverage and hold the fort until Rashee Rice returns from injury.”<\/p>\n
With the selection of Golden, the Chiefs’ receiver room would now consist of Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, Marquise Brown, Juju Smith-Schuster, and Golden, with Justyn Ross and Skyy Moore as the depth pieces. That is quite a collection of weapons for Mahomes, and on paper, that looks explosive, but as we know, they all become irrelevant if Patrick is on his back, as he was ample times in the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n

In Golden, they get a genuine speedy option who posted a 4.29 40-yard dash as he gets downfield in a hurry. Plus, he’s able to get to all three levels on the field and be a genuine option on most routes. Yes, the Chiefs need offensive line help, but if somehow Golden is available at No. 31, Kansas City might not be able to resist selecting him.<\/p>\n
