Veteran reliever Jesse Chavez has signed a Minor League deal with the Braves, hoping to secure a bullpen spot for Opening Day after being released by the Rangers<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

The 41-year-old reliever signed a Minor League deal with Atlanta on Saturday, just in time for a Spring Training showdown against the Orioles.<\/p>\n

The Braves will use this outing to decide if Chavez earns a spot on the Opening Day roster.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t new territory for Chavez. Last year, he joined the Braves late in Spring Training after being cut by the White Sox.<\/p>\n

He then turned heads with a dominant 1.32 ERA over 26 appearances through June. However, his performance dipped in the second half, finishing with a 5.22 ERA over his final 20 outings.<\/p>\n

Now, after being released by the Rangers on Friday, Chavez is looking to prove he still belongs.<\/p>\n
