The Miami Marlins will almost certainly look to trade their ace, Sandy Alc\u00e1ntara, this season. Miami cleared house last season by trading nearly any player with big league service time.<\/p>\n

Alc\u00e1ntara was recovering from Tommy John surgery, so the Marlins held onto him. Now the righty is back on the mound and looks to have returned to his 2022 National League Cy Young winner level of ability. Bleacher Report’s Zachary Rymer recently made a shocking prediction.<\/p>\n

Rymer suggested the Baltimore Orioles could be the team to land Alc\u00e1ntara and that it would only cost them one prospect to do so.<\/p>\n

Here’s the full trade pitched by Rymer to send Alc\u00e1ntara to Baltimore:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Baltimore Orioles receive:<\/em> RHP Sandy Alc\u00e1ntara Miami Marlins receive: C Samuel Basallo “As hard as it would be for Baltimore to part with that kind of power, Basallo is already looking up at Adley Rutschman, and there’s room at first base for only one of him and fellow elite prospect Coby Mayo,” Rymer wrote.<\/p>\n

While Basallo is as elite of a prospect as you will find in baseball, swapping him in a one-for-one deal in exchange for a Cy Young winning pitcher seems completely outlandish.<\/p>\n

Baltimore would likely need to pair Basallo with one or two more high-ranked prospects if it wanted to land the Marlins’ ace.<\/p>\n

The Orioles could also refuse to trade their top-ranked catching prospect. Basallo is the kind of hitter who could be untouchable on the trade market.<\/p>\n

At the end of the day, this trade idea just seems a bit of a reach.<\/p>\n
