Heading into the 2025 season, the New York Yankees are considered one of the best teams in the American League and the favorite to win the American League East. However, the injury bug hasn\u2019t been friendly to the Yankees.<\/p>\n
Veteran slugger Giancarlo Stanton is dealing with an elbow surgery, which has already cost him time in Spring Training. And now the Yankees will be losing one of their starting pitchers for the foreseeable future, directly impacting the Boston Red Sox and the rest of the AL East.<\/p>\n

He also had 171 strikeouts and only allowed 18 home runs in 151.2 innings pitched.<\/p>\n Gil was successful against the Red Sox last season, posting a 1-1 record and 1.54 ERA in two starts. The Red Sox\u2019s offense struggled against Gil as they were held to a .191 average at the plate.<\/p>\n With Gil out of the mix for at least three months, the Red Sox and the rest of the AL East will only have to worry about Gerrit Cole and Max Fried at the top of their rotation.<\/p>\n Nonetheless, the Yankees are still loaded, so the Red Sox must start the regular season playing .500 ball or better.
