By signing 26-year-old outfielder\u00a0Juan Soto\u00a0to a 15-year, $765 million contract this offseason, New York bolstered its lineup with the four-time All-Star.<\/p>\n<p>Soto is expected to hit second in Carlos Mendoza&#8217;s lineup,\u00a0slotting behind shortstop\u00a0Francisco Lindor\u00a0who is coming off a second-place MVP finish. On Sunday,\u00a0Anthony DiComo of MLB.com\u00a0reported New York has decided not to name Lindor team captain, at least for now.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"m-in-content-ad-row l-inline mm-in-content-ad-row--in-content not-size-a not-size-b not-size-d\" data-ad-group=\"in_content-1\">\n<div class=\"m-in-content-ad not-size-a not-size-b not-size-d\" data-ad-group=\"in_content-1\" data-zone-count=\"4\">\n<div class=\"not-size-a not-size-b not-size-d m-in-content-ad is-placeholder\">\n<div id=\"ad-in_content-d02d209d7c164ce2bd867e6af0f7647f\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<p>&#8220;Ultimately, they decided to table the conversation &#8212; at least for now,&#8221;\u00a0DiComo reported on Sunday. &#8220;That\u2019s not a reflection on Lindor, whom teammates and officials believe would be an excellent organizational steward. While Lindor is seemingly worthy of the honor, the Mets have a collaborative leadership effort in their clubhouse.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Wright, who served as captain from 2013-18, was the obvious choice of his era,&#8221; DiComo explained. &#8220;At the time, no other Met featured his unique blend of natural leadership qualities, peer respect, organizational tenure and contractual stability. &#8230; The current situation is different, with two long-standing leaders in Lindor and Nimmo, a high-profile newcomer in Soto and several other veterans who garner outsized respect.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>With two tenured leaders, Lindor and Nimmo, a recently signed superstar, Soto, and\u00a0 the highly respected\u00a0Pete Alonso\u00a0in the mix, New York has a big decision to make.<\/p>\n<p>Does it make sense to name just one captain?
