Top\u00a0Mets\u00a0prospects\u00a0Jett Williams<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Drew Gilbert<\/strong>\u00a0hit home runs Thursday in the Scottsdale Scorpions’ 10-1 Arizona Fall League win over the Glendale Desert Dogs.<\/p>\n

Williams, batting second and starting in center field, posted a 2-for-5 line that included a homer and RBI double. Gilbert, the sixth-hitting right fielder, added a 1-for-4 performance that included a homer and two runs.<\/p>\n

After an 0-for-2 start, Williams’\u00a0RBI double up the middle with two outs in the fourth inning scored\u00a0Eddinson Paulino<\/strong>\u00a0from second base and gave the Scorpions the go-ahead lead at 2-1.<\/p>\n

Williams added a solo shot to left-center field with one out in the sixth inning to extend the Scorpions’ 4-1 lead — they scored their third run on a fifth-inning RBI single that scored Gilbert, who was hit by a pitch.<\/p>\n

With one out in the seventh inning, Gilbert’s own solo shot padded the Scorpions’ 5-1 lead.<\/p>\n

Williams also worked a leadoff walk in the eighth inning.<\/p>\n

SNY’s\u00a0Joe DeMayo<\/strong>\u00a0ranks Williams and Gilbert among\u00a0the Mets’ top three prospects, with right-hander\u00a0Christian Scott<\/strong>\u00a0rounding out the group at No. 2.<\/p>\n

Williams mostly spent his 2024 season at Double-A Binghamton, where he slashed .172\/.287\/.241 with three RBI in 22 games before a Sept. 17 promotion to Triple-A Syracuse.<\/p>\n

Gilbert, meanwhile, slashed .215\/.313\/.393 with 10 home runs and 32 RBI in 56 games for Triple-A Syracuse — where he spent all but six of his 62 appearances — this past year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
