FRISCO \u2013\u00a0If the\u00a0Dallas Cowboys\u00a0are going to compete for a championship with an offense centered around Dak Prescott as a franchise\u00a0quarterback, they need offensive weaponry.<\/p>\n

Not coincidentally, the beauty of Prescott\u2019s contract \u2013 massive as it is \u2013 is that its structure does allow Dallas to chase those expensive weapons.<\/p>\n

Until you see it in black-and-white, there is no counting on a \u201cpromise\u201d here, even as Jerry and Stephen Jones have suggested a willingness to change their approach to free agency.<\/p>\n

But there is \u201cpotential,\u201d in the form of a possible $100 million in cap room for 2025.<\/p>\n

And there are players who might help. A lot.<\/p>\n

Chief among the key positions of is receiver, where Dallas relied heavily on\u00a0CeeDee Lamb\u00a0but struggled with poor depth and consistency for much of the season.<\/p>\n

Want a quick fix? Signing the biggest contract in free agency might do the trick.<\/p>\n

Yes, that is probably what it will take to steal Tee Higgins from the\u00a0Cincinnati Bengals\u00a0\u2026 but at this point, the door is open as Cincy is seeming hesitant to meet his price.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the\u00a0Cincinnati Enquirer, Bengals director of player personnel\u00a0Duke\u00a0Tobin expressed that a reunion is possible but not imminent.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe feel like we have the resources to do it,\u201d Tobin said, \u201cbut it all depends on how the negotiation goes and whether they\u2019re willing to accept wanting to come back at a number that makes sense for everybody. And you know what we do with Tee going forward, I\u2019ve always been very upfront in my desire to have Tee Higgins on our team.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve never not been upfront about that, and that desire continues, but we have to be able to come together with his representation on what that means and what the right number is for his experience, for his play time, for his production.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Tobin\u2019s conservative language surely sounds familiar to Dallas fans as it echoes what COO Stephen often says about not wanting to pay \u201cgreat money to good players.\u201d<\/p>\n

Our argument back: The car dealership isn\u2019t just giving away Lamborghinis. If you want one, you have to pay for it.<\/p>\n

Oh, and by the way: The Chiefs and\u00a0the Eagles, this year\u2019s\u00a0Super Bowl\u00a0foes, own\u00a0Lamborghinis.<\/p>\n

The Bengals \u2013 assuming they want to truly contend \u2013 have little reason to let Higgins walk, outside of the same cap constraints that Dallas always complains about.<\/p>\n

It remains possible that Higgins surpasses that $30 million mark, as the top receivers \u2013 including Lamb at $34 million APY \u2013 already do. That\u2019s a scary price to pay.<\/p>\n

But look at Higgins\u2019 work with\u00a0Ja\u2019Marr Chase\u00a0in Cincy; that\u2019s pretty scary for opponents, as a Lamb\/Higgins pairing would be here.<\/p>\n

To be sure, this sort of pursuit would mark a change in the way Dallas does its business. But the addition of a star like Higgins, who posted 911 yards and 10 touchdowns in just 12 games, is the sort of alteration that can allow the Cowboys to \u201cremodel\u201d quickly. \u2026<\/p>\n
