<\/p>\nThere\u2019s no doubt who around here has the last word in calling the shots. That\u2019s Jerry. But McClay is about as instrumental as anyone to the success Dallas has experienced \u2013 and a foundational person when it comes to future success.<\/p>\n
Some of the leadership of Dallas Cowboys is changing, in the form of new coach Brian Schottenheimer.<\/p>\n
But unchanged now, as of Wednesday? A most key figure in the organization in Will McClay.<\/p>\n

As first noted by\u00a0ESPN, McClay is staying on as Cowboys vice president of player personnel.<\/p>\n
McClay entered the month in the news as he had an expiring contract that was to run out following the\u00a0NFL Draft.<\/p>\n
But McClay \u2013 in many real ways almost a part of the Jones family due to his talent, personality and loyalty \u2013 is staying put \u2026 once again skipping over possible GM jobs elsewhere.<\/p>\n
The GM here? That will not change.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cNo. Just, no,\u201d Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said recently, when asked if he would finally relinquish the GM title. \u201cI bought the team, I think the first thing to come out of my mouth \u2026 somebody asked, \u2018Did you buy this for your kids?\u2019 I said, \u2018Hell no. I bought it for me.\u2019 And I didn\u2019t buy an investment. I bought an occupation, and I bought something I was going to do.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cI was 46 (years old). I bought something I was going to do for the rest of my life. That\u2019s what I\u2019m doing. So, no. The facts are, since I have to decide where the money is spent, then you might as well cut all of the (expletive) out. That\u2019s who\u2019s making the call anyways.\u201d<\/p>\n Ah, but McClay is key in \u201cmaking the calls\u201d as well.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
