The video cuts off before we see how the interaction ended.<\/p>\n<p>Cubs fans have regularly criticized Ricketts for not putting enough money into the team\u2019s roster. That criticism ramped up after the Dodgers and Mets made big splashes in the free-agent market this offseason.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2018We don\u2019t have the kind of resources that the Dodgers have, and we don\u2019t have the kind of resources that the Mets have currently,\u2019\u2019 chairman Tom Ricketts said in a conversation with the Sun-Times earlier this month. \u2018\u2018And there\u2019s a couple of other teams that are funding their baseball budgets from outside of baseball revenue. But we\u2019re still one of the top teams, and we should be putting one of the top payrolls on the field every year.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The Cubs\u2019 financial books aren\u2019t available, but Ricketts consistently has said that baseball revenue \u2014 from ticket sales, concessions, TV and sponsorships \u2014 determines the budget for the next season.
