The Kansas City Chiefs take on the Houston Texans in the AFC divisional round on Jan. 18. As the No. 1 seed, the Chiefs earned home field advantage in the playoffs. The Chiefs finished the regular season with a perfect 8-0 record at home and look to keep the win streak going on Saturday. The last time Kansas City played at Arrowhead Stadium was against the Texans in Week 16. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who suffered high ankle sprain just six days earlier, showed no sign of pain during Kansas City’s 27-19 victory over Houston on Dec. 21. He completed 28-of-41 passes for 260 yards and a touchdown, along with five carries for 33 yards and a score.<\/p>\n
While Mahomes and Co. rested during the bye week, the groundskeepers at Arrowhead Stadium were hard at work keeping GEHA Field safe amid the severe winter storm that hit Kansas City. One day before the Texans-Chiefs showdown, photos of the stadium’s transformation turned heads on X.<\/p>\n

Head groundskeeper Travis Hogan posted, “Shout out to all the Ops staff along with my crew for what the last 2 weeks has entailed. Crazy cold temps, snow removal out of the stadium, rain tarps off after 7 days down, and then grow tarps off on Wednesday. Have a little tip burn, but ready for the Divisional! Go Chiefs!” Fans were blown away by how good the Stadium looked. One man commented, “As always, you are all TOP NOTCH!! Thank you for what you all do to ensure the field is in its best shape for the games. GO CHIEFS!!” Another person gushed, “Travis that field looks immaculate! Amazing work as always!”<\/p>\n
One fan wrote, “The fact that these grounds guys can do this in the middle of January in KC is nothing short of a miracle. Hell, I can’t get grass to grow in my yard that looks half as good as this and I have experience in grounds work.
