The Phillies will bring three of their top prospects to major-league camp among 23 non-roster invitees to spring training, the club announced Tuesday. A trio of recent first-round picks \u2014 right-hander Andrew Painter, infielder Aidan Miller and outfielder Justin Crawford \u2014 will join the big leaguers in Clearwater, Fla.<\/p>\n

Painter, the 21-year-old flamethrower, will factor into Philadelphia\u2019s plans at some point this year in his return from his Tommy John surgery in 2023, but his debut will be delayed. Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski has indicated that Painter will not pitch in Grapefruit League game action this spring as the team tries to maximize his ability on an innings limit in 2025.<\/p>\n

Miller and Crawford may not necessarily be in the major-league picture this regular season, but both standouts reached Double-A in strong seasons in 2024. Miller had an .811 OPS with 11 home runs in 102 minor-league games last year, establishing himself as an advanced hitting prospect in his first full season. Crawford had an .805 OPS with 42 stolen bases while playing an impact center field in 110 minor-league games. Another step forward in 2025 could help Miller and Crawford reach Philadelphia in the near future.<\/p>\n

Other notable non-roster invitees include infielder Otto Kemp, who had a breakout season in the minors last year, infielder Rodolfo Castro, who spent the second half of 2023 on the Phillies\u2019 roster, former top pitching prospect Griff McGarry, power-hitting outfielder Gabriel Rincones Jr., former Orioles left-hander Nick Vespi and lefty reliever Tristan Garnett.<\/p>\n
