The Atlanta Braves are joining Georgia and the rest of the nation in paying tribute to one of their biggest fans — former President Jimmy Carter.<\/p>\n
Carter died Sunday at the age of 100 at his home in Plains, Georgia.<\/p>\n
For years, it was not unheard of to find Carter and wife Rosalynn in the stands at the old Turner Field as well as Truist Park.<\/p>\n
Upon his 100th birthday, the Braves even created a special jersey \u201cfor their No. 1 fan.\u201d<\/p>\n
RELATED STORIES:<\/b><\/p>\n \u201cPresident and Mrs. Carter frequently caught games when they were in Atlanta, and he now watches nearly every Braves game from his home in Plains,\u201d the Braves said in a Facebook post at the time.<\/p>\n President and Mrs. Carter occasionally would get caught on the \u201cKiss-cam\u201d at the games.<\/p>\n On Sunday, the team passed their condolences along to President Carter\u2019s family and to the rest of Braves Country.<\/p>\n \u201cWhile the world knew him as a remarkable humanitarian and peacemaker, who knew him as a dedicated Braves fan and we will miss having him in the stands cheering on his Braves,\u201d the team said in a statement.<\/p>\n We join the nation in mourning the passing of Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of The United States.<\/p>\n A Georgia native, President Carter was an ardent supporter of the Atlanta Braves.
