One former member of the Atlanta Braves reportedly has found a new home.<\/p>\n

The free agent market has moved extremely slowly lately, but a former Braves All-Star and first-round pick has found his next opportunity. Ex-Braves All-Star\u00a0Michael Soroka spent the 2024 season with the Chicago White Sox and will be joining the Washington Nationals for the 2025 campaign,\u00a0according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.<\/p>\n

“Free-agent (right-handed pitcher) Mike Soroka in agreement with Nationals, source tells\u00a0The Athletic,” Rosenthal said.<\/p>\n

Soroka logged a 4.74 ERA in 2024 with the White Sox across 25 total appearances — including nine starts. Over that stretch, he logged an 84-to-44 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 79 2\/3 innings pitched. Soroka also tallied a surprising 0-10 record in Chicago.<\/p>\n

He now will try to bounce back with the Nationals and landed a one-year, $9 million deal,\u00a0according to<\/p>\n

“Former Brave and White Sox pitcher Mike Soroka is in agreement with the Nats on a 1-year, $9 million contract, sources tell ESPN,” Rogers said. “Ken Rosenthal was the first to report the deal.”<\/p>\n

Soroka was selected in the first round of the 2015 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft by the Braves and spent the first four seasons of his big league career with the team. Soroka was an All-Star in 2019 with a 2.68 ERA across 29 starts but injuries derailed him from 2020 through 2022.<\/p>\n
