Texas Rangers’ Corey Seager made a harsh admission recently. Something that perhaps many fans had already noticed, but that the shortstop finally addressed.<\/p>\n

Seager, 32, is going through one of the worst offensive slumps of his career. He currently is 0 for 27 in his last at-bats, seven consecutive games without a hit, and 11 strikeouts in that streak.<\/p>\n

The shortstop’s batting average is .179. Everyone knows the pressure that comes with going through a negative streak in the American League West Division. Seager also finally spoke about it.<\/p>\n

“You’re obviously still working on things, and you’d like to see some better results, but you’re not getting them,” Seager said after a 6-5 comeback win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday, via ESPN.<\/p>\n

He added, “It’s one of those things that you’re going to figure it out out there. It’s always been like my focus, right, you’re going to figure it out swinging. So right now, I want to keep going out there and trying to figure it out.”<\/p>\n

For his part, Rangers manager Skip Schumaker declared his total confidence in him after the game against Arizona. For the coach, there is no doubt: Seager has to play.<\/p>\n

“Corey still feels good to go,” Schumaker said. “I like him in the lineup. So I’m going to continue putting him there if his body feels good and his mind is right. And it is, so that part is good.”<\/p>\n

It must also be said that the Rangers do not have many offensive options, so it is logical that Seager remains an immovable piece. Additionally, as Schumaker explained, slumps are common, and at the start of the season, it is not an alarming sign.<\/p>\n

“There are some really big names right now that have had tough months, and that’s OK to start the season. And that just means, in my opinion, that he’s going to have a really good five months,” he said.<\/p>\n
