Fedde\u2019s performance was marred by yet another pair of home runs \u2014 a solo shot by Bobby Witt Jr.<\/strong> and another by Salvador P\u00e9rez<\/strong> in the top of the first inning, giving the Royals an early 2-0 lead<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This was the latest instance in a season-long issue for Fedde, who has struggled with the long ball, but he did manage to settle in after those early mistakes. However, the game wasn\u2019t as smooth sailing as it seemed. After Fedde was pulled in favor of Tyler Schweitzer<\/strong>, the game\u2019s momentum shifted once again. Schweitzer gave up two runs in just one-third of an inning, allowing the Royals to crawl back into the game, cutting the Sox\u2019s lead to 5-4<\/strong>. The bullpen continued to struggle as Schweitzer\u2019s inability to close out innings left the game hanging in the balance.<\/p>\n
