NEW YORK \u2013 In a deeply emotional and respectful gesture, the New York Post dedicated its entire Metro Back Page to honoring the legendary announcer John Sterling, who recently passed away at the age of 88. With the large headline \u201cONE OF A KIND\u201d and the poignant message \u201cLove him or not, there will never be another announcer like Sterling,\u201d the newspaper stirred strong emotions within the Yankees Nation.<\/p>\n

The cover on Tuesday (May 6, 2026) featured a warm portrait of Sterling with his signature smile, accompanied by his iconic catchphrases: \u201cTHUUUUU YANKEES WIN!\u201d, \u201cBERN BABY BERN!\u201d, and \u201cIT\u2019S AN A-BOMB FROM A-ROD!\u201d. This is considered one of the most meaningful and solemn tributes the New York media has ever paid to Sterling since his passing.<\/p>\n
