The Boston Red Sox are facing a tough stretch without one of their promising sluggers, Triston Casas, who is sidelined indefinitely. Casas, who missed most of the 2025 season due to a ruptured left patellar tendon, has been diligently working on his recovery.<\/p>\n

He had high hopes of making a return by Opening Day, but reality threw a curveball. Casas didn’t see any action in big league games during Spring Training and now faces a new hurdle-pain in his rib area that has led to him being shut down.<\/p>\n

Manager Alex Cora provided an update on Saturday, explaining that the team is treating Casas’ condition as an oblique\/rib injury. According to Cora, the Red Sox are waiting for further insights from a doctor, but the initial assessment suggests that this issue is unrelated to his previous knee injury.<\/p>\n

“Right now, we\u2019re going to treat it like an oblique, rib injury,” Cora stated. “He\u2019s going to be out for a while but we\u2019re still waiting for the news from the doctor.”<\/p>\n

At 26, Casas has had a rollercoaster career so far. He burst onto the scene in 2023 with an impressive 24 home runs and 65 RBIs, capturing the attention of fans and analysts alike.<\/p>\n

However, injuries have since hampered his progress. He managed only 63 games in 2024 and a mere 29 in 2025.<\/p>\n

The Red Sox are now in a holding pattern, hoping that Casas’ current setback doesn’t necessitate surgery, though the wait for a surgeon’s opinion adds a layer of uncertainty.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, the Red Sox have some stability at first base with Willson Contreras stepping in. However, having Casas available as a depth option would be a significant boost, especially for a team that\u2019s struggling to generate power.<\/p>\n

Currently, Boston is tied for 27th in the league with just nine home runs, highlighting a pressing need for more offensive firepower. While Casas won’t be the immediate solution, his return could be a game-changer down the line.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
