Kansas City, MO \u2013 March 2026.\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs<\/strong>\u00a0owner\u00a0Clark Hunt<\/strong>\u00a0has submitted a plan to expand the\u00a0University of Kansas Health System Arrowhead Training Complex<\/strong>\u00a0in Kansas City, Missouri.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The expansion will add 80,000 square feet of office space, designed to serve both the football operations and business departments of the team.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The number of parking spaces will also increase from 275 to 435 to meet the growing needs of the team. The expansion will be located on the east side of the training complex, facing Interstate 435.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Although this is a significant step, the plan comes amid the ongoing sale of the Chiefs. Fans are understandably concerned about the future of the team.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Clark Hunt shared, \u201cWe are committed to investing in the community and the people of this city. This new project will create many jobs and help many people. But perhaps, we will have to wait for the state to approve this plan before we can move forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The plan was submitted in December 2025, with construction expected to begin in the summer of 2026 and complete by fall 2028.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

However, Governor\u00a0Laura Kelly\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0reaction has left the Chiefs community disappointed. She expressed concerns about the cost and practicality of the project, as the city also needs valuable land for other investments.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Kelly raised concerns that investing heavily in sports infrastructure, while lacking good options for other projects, may not be the most sensible approach. \u201cThe community needs clarity from the new owners about the future of the team,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
