Flowers is entering the final stretch of his four-year, $14.03 million rookie contract, which runs through the 2026 season. However, Baltimore holds a fifth-year option that would extend his deal through 2027. Because of his early success, including two Pro Bowl selections, that option is projected to cost approximately $27.29 million.<\/p>\n

The Ravens have until May 1 to make a decision, but according to The Athletic\u2019s Jeff Zrebiec<\/span><\/span>, the outcome appears inevitable.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy all accounts, the Ravens fully intend to keep Flowers, and they\u2019d like to reach a deal sooner rather than later,\u201d Zrebiec reported. \u201cThe fifth-year option is essentially a formality. The organization is already thinking beyond that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since being selected 22nd overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, Flowers has rapidly emerged as one of the franchise\u2019s most reliable offensive weapons. The 25-year-old receiver has missed just one game in three seasons and has already recorded two 1,000-yard campaigns.<\/p>\n

In total, Flowers has tallied 237 receptions for 3,128 yards and 14 touchdowns\u2014numbers that underline both his consistency and his growing importance in Baltimore\u2019s offense.<\/p>\n

More importantly, his chemistry with Jackson has continued to strengthen each season. Given that connection, allowing Flowers to leave would not only weaken the roster but disrupt the rhythm of the Ravens\u2019 offensive system.<\/p>\n

Financially, the Ravens are in a position to act. Following the initial wave of free agency, Baltimore still holds approximately $29.5 million in cap space\u2014enough flexibility to exercise the fifth-year option without significant strain.<\/p>\n

However, the real decision lies beyond 2027.<\/p>\n

According to Spotrac<\/span><\/span>, Flowers\u2019 current market value is projected at around $92.9 million over three years, averaging roughly $31 million annually. That would place him comfortably among the NFL\u2019s top-paid wide receivers.<\/p>\n

And the market is only rising.<\/p>\n

The Seattle Seahawks<\/span><\/span> recently reset the benchmark by extending Jaxon Smith-Njigba<\/span><\/span> on a four-year, $168.6 million deal\u2014one of the largest in league history. Moves like that are expected to drive receiver salaries even higher.<\/p>\n

Bleacher Report analyst Gary Davenport<\/span><\/span> believes the Ravens should act quickly.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the Ravens can lock Flowers up for less than $35 million per year, they should probably do it,\u201d Davenport noted. \u201cThe cost of elite wide receivers isn\u2019t going down\u2014it\u2019s only climbing.\u201d<\/p>\n

That reality leaves Baltimore with a clear strategic dilemma.<\/p>\n

They can wait\u2014evaluate further and risk paying a significantly higher price later. Or they can move now, securing a long-term extension that could look like a bargain as the market continues to surge.<\/p>\n

With Lamar Jackson as the centerpiece of the franchise, the decision surrounding Zay Flowers is about more than just one player. It\u2019s about preserving chemistry, maintaining offensive stability, and shaping the Ravens\u2019 long-term trajectory.<\/p>\n
