The Buffalo Bills added DJ Moore at wide receiver, and the team could make another intriguing move.<\/p>\n
Buffalo is looking to give quarterback Josh Allen more weapons. And the Bills have been connected to an intriguing name in Brandon Aiyuk once the San Francisco 49ers release him. Once they do, Bills analyst Brandon Ray of BuffaLowDown urges the team to pursue him.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven with the Bills trading for Moore, adding another receiver like Aiyuk would open up the offense even more,\u201d Ray wrote. \u201cWhile Aiyuk hasn\u2019t played any football since early 2024, the Bills could take the great risk of giving him a prove-it deal and join an offense where he would be catching passes from Josh Allen. \u2026<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom 2022-2023, Aiyuk had back-to-back 1,000+ seasons and 15 receiving touchdowns. He is a dynamic playmaker who can still provide great value to a team that needs wide receiver help. Imagine an offense led by Josh Allen and then defenses would have to find a way to contain D.J. Moore, Brandon Aiyuk, Khalil Shakir, Dalton Kincaid, and James Cook\u2026that doesn\u2019t sound like a bad idea for Bills fans.\u201d<\/p>\n
Aiyuk does have some character concerns after he missed the entire 2025 season due to injury, and he shared videos of him speeding past the 49ers stadium. Yet, if Buffalo believes he is dedicated to football again, it could be a high-reward, low-risk signing for the Bills.<\/p>\n
And, given that Buffalo has Moore, Shakir, and the tight ends, the Bills don\u2019t need Aiyuk to be the No. 1 receiver, which could help him.<\/p>\n
Aiyuk\u2019s best season came in 2023 when he recorded 1,342 yards and 7 touchdowns.<\/p>\n
49ers Likely to Cut Aiyuk<\/strong><\/p>\n San Francisco gave Aiyuk a four-year, $120 million deal, but after the team is likely to move on after he missed all of 2025.<\/p>\n Aiyuk wasn\u2019t around the team last season, as reports came out that San Francisco wanted to move on from him. ESPN NFL reporter Nick Wagoner reported on March 11 that the 49ers planned to release Aiyuk. But it\u2019s likely would be a post-June 1 cut.<\/p>\n \u201cWith the new league year set to begin today, the 49ers plan to release WR Brandon Aiyuk. Could happen as soon as today, but certainly soon,\u201d Wagoner wrote on X. \u201cWashington is the most likely landing spot for Aiyuk, probably on a one-year prove it deal. SF is expected to use the post-June 1 designation, which is why they had to wait until new league year begins.<\/p>\n \u201cDead cap numbers, per OverTheCap: 2026 \u2013 $13.325 million 2027 \u2013 $21.247 million SF will also get a credit of $4.987 million toward the 2027 cap. The Niners, of course, will save significant amounts in future years by getting Aiyuk off the books.\u201d<\/p>\n Aiyuk was selected 25th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft by San Francisco.<\/p>\n Bills Giving Allen More Weapons<\/strong><\/p>\n Buffalo\u2019s first big move of the offseason was trading for DJ Moore from the Chicago Bears.<\/p>\n Moore will be the team\u2019s No. 1 receiver and give Josh Allen a true No. 1 receiver. Meanwhile, Buffalo brought back tight end Dawson Knox on a new deal to give Allen another weapon.<\/p>\n The Bills, meanwhile, are also linked to drafting a wide receiver to bolster the offense even more.
