While the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wanted to keep Evans in free agency, he chose to leave to start a fresh chapter. However, Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht made it clear that Evans passed on more money from Tampa Bay than he got with the 49ers.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously, he\u2019s the best offensive player we\u2019ve ever had and an even better person than he is a player. So, it\u2019s always tough. That one was really tough,\u201d Licht said. \u201cWe made a significantly higher offer, and that was just the first offer.\u201d<\/p>\n
