The move represents a low-risk gamble that could deliver significant upside if the player returns to his earlier form.<\/p>\n

The player arriving in Kansas City is\u00a0Kader Kohou<\/span>, who has agreed to a\u00a0veteran minimum contract<\/strong>\u00a0with the Chiefs after departing the\u00a0Miami Dolphins<\/span>\u00a0earlier this offseason.<\/p>\n

For Kohou, the deal is less about the money and more about the opportunity to prove he still belongs among the league\u2019s reliable defensive backs.<\/p>\n

Kohou\u2019s journey to the NFL has never followed a traditional path. The defensive back played college football at\u00a0Texas A&M University\u2013Commerce Lions<\/span>, where he helped the program capture the\u00a02017 NCAA Division II national championship<\/strong>\u00a0before pursuing professional opportunities.<\/p>\n

Despite strong college production, Kohou went undrafted in 2022 before signing with Miami as an undrafted free agent.<\/p>\n

He quickly surprised the league by earning a spot on the Dolphins\u2019 53-man roster and emerging as one of the most productive undrafted rookies that season.<\/p>\n

During his breakout rookie campaign in 2022, Kohou recorded\u00a072 tackles and 10 pass breakups<\/strong>, leading all undrafted rookies in both categories while playing a key role in Miami\u2019s defense as the team pushed toward the playoffs.<\/p>\n

His development continued in 2024 when he delivered the most efficient season of his career.<\/p>\n

Kohou finished with\u00a0two interceptions and a forced fumble<\/strong>, while ranking among the NFL\u2019s most efficient coverage defenders.<\/p>\n

Advanced metrics placed him sixth in the league in lowest yards allowed per coverage snap at\u00a00.62 yards<\/strong>, alongside elite corners such as\u00a0Pat Surtain II<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, his momentum was halted during the 2025 offseason when he suffered a\u00a0torn ACL during training camp<\/strong>, forcing him to miss the entire season and casting uncertainty over his future in Miami.<\/p>\n
