The Buffalo Bills may get a second crack at landing Maxx Crosby.<\/p>\n

The Bills were reportedly deep in the mix to land the star edge rusher, but lost out when the Las Vegas Raiders struck a deal with the Baltimore Ravens.<\/p>\n

Or so it seemed.<\/p>\n

The Raiders announced late on Tuesday that the Ravens backed out of negotiations, apparently sinking the deal and potentially opening the door for the Bills to make another run at Crosby.<\/p>\n

Maxx Crosby Announcement Shakes NFL<\/strong><\/p>\n

The parameters for the trade sending Crosby to the Ravens appeared to be finalized, but the Raiders took to social media on Tuesday evening to drop the bombshell that it had fallen apart.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Baltimore Ravens have backed out of our trade agreement for Maxx Crosby. We will have no further comment at this time,\u201d the team shared in a post on X.<\/p>\n

While it\u2019s not clear what the Raiders will do next \u2014 and the team had reportedly wished to keep Crosby at one point \u2014 the Bills could jump back into the mix. SI.com\u2019s Albert Breer reported that the Bills were heavy in the mix to land Crosby, but didn\u2019t have a high enough first-round pick to entice the Raiders to move on a deal.<\/p>\n

\u201cA dividing line for the Raiders was where the picks being discussed landed in the first round,\u201d Breer wrote. \u201cThe Cowboys held the 12th pick, while the Ravens had the 14th selection. And it led to teams bowing out. The Bills were the most prominent example, holding the 26th pick, which was 500 points on the Jimmy Johnson draft chart, less valuable than Dallas\u2019s pick, and 400 points less valuable than Baltimore\u2019s pick. For reference, 500 points is the value of the 40th pick in the draft, and 400 points is the value of the 50th pick.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Bills would have needed to up their offer in order to land Crosby, Breer added.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat meant Buffalo would essentially have to add a second-round pick to whatever Dallas or Baltimore offered, which is why, in the end, the Bills bowed out of the bidding,\u201d Breer reported.<\/p>\n

Depending on the rest of the competition to land Crosby, Buffalo\u2019s offer could be the best one remaining for the Raiders.<\/p>\n

Bills in Mix for Another Star Edge Rusher<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Bills may have already turned their efforts to another star edge rusher who is currently on the open market. Former Cincinnati Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson is seen as one of the top prizes of this year\u2019s free agency, and the Bills are rumored to be among the teams trying to land him.<\/p>\n

Insider Ryan Talbot of Syracuse.com reported that the Bills have inquired about the edge rusher.<\/p>\n

\u201cPer source, the #Bills have reached out on pass-rusher Trey Hendrickson. Plenty of other teams in the mix as well,\u201d Talbot shared in a post on X.<\/p>\n

Either Hendrickson or Crosby would be a major investment for the Bills, especially given the team\u2019s tight salary cap situation, but would also reinforce new defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard\u2019s pledge to become more aggressive up front.<\/p>\n
